The 2015 World Peace Caravan and the Queen of Sheba

Digital Girl
What do the Queen of Sheba and the World Peace Caravan 2015 share in common?

The Queen of Sheba is seen in history as a seeker of truth and wisdom. Her story is profound in that she has been rumored to have a strange feature; a left foot that is cloven like that of a goat and a VERY hairy leg.  Truth or Myth?

The Queen of Sheba appears in religious texts sacred to Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

The wise queen had heard that King Solomon of Israel was also very wise and decided to travel by camel to Jerusalem to meet him and test his knowledge with questions and riddles.

She brings with her the gifts of frankincense, myrrh, gold and precious jewels.

This path the caravan traveled between the Queen’s kingdom and that of King Solomon became known as the Frankincense Trail.

King Solomon heard of the Queen of Sheba, her great kingdom, her hairy leg and cloven foot.

Eager to see if the story was true, he has the floor of his court polished until it reflects everything that crosses it like mirrored glass. When the Queen of Sheba walks across the floor, Solomon sees the reflection of her cloven foot. However, right before his eyes, it transforms and becomes normal. One thing leads to another, and nine months later a son is born. Prince Menelik decides to travels the same Frankincense Trail to Israel to meet his father, King Solomon. When he returns, he takes with him the Ark of the Covenant, the sacred container containing the Ten Commandments.

The inaugural World Peace Caravan 2015 is a 12-day camel caravan for world peace that will retrace Queen Sheba’s peace journey to King Solomon 3,000 years ago.

Scheduled to depart Petra, Jordan on December 15, 2015, the caravan will travel by camel, horse, and foot to Jerusalem, retracing the steps of this early peace movement along parts of the storied Frankincense Trail. Join Kathleen O’Keefe-Kanavos and Lori Boyle as they:

  • meet the Director of the Caravan Kim Langbecker,
  • and the Youth Ambassadors who will be involved in this persistent setting occasion

“Our world is literally at the edge of a cliff, made ready to roll down by the adverse effects of human greed. So it leaves us with two choices; either we let it roll down, or we make a collective effort to make some paradigm shift to pull it back and make it just, peaceful, and sustainable for a better future for ourselves and the generations to come.” ~Simran Vedvyas
