"Letters to Ourselves." Healthy Memories of Surviving Cancerland: If You Knew Then What You Know Now! (Part 2)

Nightmares and crisis go together like peanut and butter. Heck of a sandwich we were served during cancer and treatment.  But our professors,  Death and Crisis, showed us how to find the mental, emotional and physical nutrition in all aspects of healing.

It's hard to believe that it all started the same way three different times, those many years ago.

“How in the world did this happen, again?” we asked our doctor as we sat on the examining table in the Oncology Ward.  The room was spinning from our anxiety attack. We ask the question as much to ourselves as to our doctor.  “You have a 3x5 centimeter tumor that was missed again by mammograms. It wasn’t hospital policy to give you an MRI just because you wanted one, but now I’m glad you insisted on it. I guess mammograms are not your friend,” he replied.

Ya think? We thought. Well thank goodness our dreams are!  This was the second time dreams told us about the cancer conventional doctors and the test on which they relied had missed.  We wondered if we should tell him about the recurring dreams and nightmares. Would sharing how they repeatedly told us in exact words that we had breast cancer help us?   We decide to let the doctors read it in our book after we survive stage 4 recurrence. We wanted treatment, not a padded cell.

That was 9 and 14 years ago respectively, only a dream away from life and death.

We survived cancer three times by believing in our dreams that connected us with our “Physician-within” and Higher Power. We combined dream therapy with conventional and alternative therapies and lived despite the odds.

We validated our dreams, gut-instincts and intuition with appropriate conventional tests. Combining conventional and holistic medicine creates healing that is greater than the sum of its individual parts because it heals both body and spirit.

We learned that, “Science goes so far, then comes Higher Power.”

So, how are we using all this information to give back to the Universe for shining its healing light on us?

Like so many other survivors, we’re on a mission to save lives by showing patients and those who love them how to become courageous in the face of adversity, live their lives to the fullest despite crisis, and trust in Inner-guidance shared through dreams, prayers and meditation.

If we had to give advice to Younger Self, concerning health, life and surviving, what would it be? Three thoughts come to mind.

1.     1.)  “You are the most important person in your life. You cannot live without you. So, when you KNOW in your gut, or dreams, that something is wrong, don’t be dismissed, don’t take “no” for an answer, and be the squeaky-wheel until you are heard. Live the life you’ve always dreamed because the happiness you feel will help you vibrate at a healthy frequency that will dispel disease. Laugh until it heals.”

2.   2.)  There is almost always a point in the process of life where logic, circumstance, reason, and medical expertise fail. At this point people often slip through the cracks, sometimes never recovering. Remember, we hold the key to a victorious life that can raise us above the uncertainty of unpredictable circumstances. That key is a belief in Higher Power and Life Purpose.  Connecting with Inner-guidance, such as our Physician-within, through dreams, prayers, and meditation during the current changes in medicine can be life-saving.

3.    3.)  Another key to a victorious life is in our conscious decision not to be victims of policies, practices and unpredictable circumstances. Embrace your dreams. Dream your life of happiness. Then, live through your dreams because they are a gift from your Higher Power.

Love,
Me Thriver

P.S. We are healed. We wish it so and therefore it is!
